Coin Sayang, a regulated digital asset exchange in Indonesia, has been formally acquired by OSL Group, a Hong Kong-based digital asset platform.

This move solidifies OSL’s ambitions for the development of real-World Assets (RWA) and digital financial tokenization, and also signifies the company’s strategic expansion in Southeast Asia.

As a kind of transaction consideration, approximately 9,266 million OSL Group shares were issued as part of the acquisition, which was executed indirectly through Coin Sayang’s primary shareholder.

OSL received complete regulatory authority to conduct business in Indonesia under this arrangement, which included a license to trade cryptocurrencies and derivatives.

The action is a component of OSL Group’s endeavors to broaden its commercial presence in the cryptocurrency sector in Southeast Asia, which is thought to have a lot of promise.

Data from the Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI) shows that Indonesia is the third-highest country in the world in terms of RWA interest, accounting for around 10.1 percent of global interest.

The company aims to provide regulated financial products that can increase the client’s reach while bolstering blockchain adoption and compliance standards in the area by fusing the technological prowess and global regulatory experience of OSL with the local market base of Coin Sayang.

It’s also anticipated that this acquisition will boost OSL’s global competitiveness, diversify its revenue sources, and grow its user base.

Ivan Wong, the chief financial officer of OSL Group, stated that Indonesia is a highly strategic market for the company’s international growth.

Indonesia provides structure and scale, and it has a lot of opportunity to combine Web3 and TradFi and enable regulated cryptocurrency payments. Indonesia is the perfect market and one of the primary regional hubs for digital asset services in Southeast Asia, according to Ivan Wong, because of its sizable user base for digital financial services, high internet penetration, and comparatively clear regulatory environment.
