Saison Capital has officially launched a US$50 million Asia US blockchain fund aimed at bridging innovation between American founders and Asia’s rapidly growing cryptocurrency and digital assets ecosystem.

The fund seeks to support companies working on real world asset solutions using blockchain, especially start ups that can benefit from the deep talent and financial networks across both regions. It will leverage the existing infrastructure and connections of Credit Saison, a major Japanese financial services firm, as well as relationships with Asia’s cryptocurrency community and leading financial institutions.

Onigiri Capital will co lead the fund alongside key figures including Qin En Looi and Hans de Back. Their focus will be on early to growth stage projects that apply blockchain technology to real assets, such as tokenized real estate, supply chain applications, or financial ecosystems with strong use of decentralised finance (DeFi) tools.

This move comes at a time when Asia is becoming central to blockchain growth, both in terms of user adoption and regulatory experimentation. By providing capital, access, and cross border partnerships, the fund aims to accelerate commercialisation of projects that are often siloed in either the US or Asia. It also gives US based founders exposure to Asia’s capital markets, which are increasingly sophisticated in terms of crypto regulation and financial services.

The fund could catalyse innovation especially in sectors like real estate tokenisation, digital identity, and financial infrastructure. For Asia, it could mean more high quality blockchain ventures. For the US, more access to emerging markets. However, there are challenges, such as navigating differing regulatory regimes, ensuring compliance across jurisdictions, and aligning expectations when scaling.

Saison Capital has signaled that capital deployment will begin soon, with investments expected across both Asia and the US. The firm plans careful due diligence, emphasising sustainable projects, transparent governance, and real world utility of blockchain technologies.
