One of the world’s major blockchain conferences, Consensus, will leave the United States for the first time to be held in Hong Kong from February 18 to 20, 2025.
Since its inception in 2015, it has become a major gathering for industry leaders, government officials, regulators, and entrepreneurs in the blockchain sector.
Often referred to as the “Super Bowl” of the blockchain industry, the conference has become a significant platform for showcasing innovative technologies, industry trends, and policy changes.
The event aspires to foster open communication and in-depth discussion for Asian developers, traders, policymakers, and decision-makers, uniting the East and West for key dialogues and transactions.
Hong Kong is regarded as a business hub for the global industry and finance—a gateway where East meets West. It is a natural choice for Consensus, as the city has become a focal point of blockchain and crypto adoption, with the regional government leading a major push to establish itself as a Web3 and blockchain hub.
According to a study released by Consensus, Asia’s cryptocurrency adoption rate is 22%, almost three times the global average of 7.8%. It is not surprising that Consensus is expanding its activities to Asia.
More than 270 speakers from around the world—including founders, CEOs, senior managers, and presidents—will join 8,000 participants from nearly 90 countries, according to Michael Lau of Consensus.
Consensus Hong Kong has become the first official Web3 Cup sponsor of the Happy Wednesday horse racing event and will host an official evening event for hundreds of attendees at the Happy Valley Racecourse.
The summit will cover a wide range of topics, including the development of Layer 1 blockchains, institutional adoption, stablecoins, cross-border finance and payments, and Web3 culture.
Blockchain adoption has thus far remained mostly bottom-up, but “large-scale” adoption will be the conference’s main theme, as governments show greater support for blockchain and regulatory frameworks for this revolutionary technology become clearer.
Hong Kong SAR Financial Secretary Paul Chan will deliver the opening keynote speech, with other notable speakers including Binance CEO Richard Teng, Solana Foundation President Lily Liu, Adam Back (co-founder and CEO of Blockstream), Julia Leung (CEO of the Securities and Futures Commission), and Robinhood Cryptocurrency CEO Johann Kerbrat.
On the day before Consensus, Blockwind News is a media partner of an event titled Future Stablecoin Summit: Challenges and Opportunities of Hong Kong’s Fiat-Referenced Stablecoin (FRS) Regime and Ecosystem on February 17.
This is just one of many side events and parties to be held in Hong Kong during the week of Consensus.
