Blockwind correspondent spoke to CEO of Cineflicks which is aiming to disrupt the OTT subscription-based service by creating a much fairer model, providing financial benefits to all players, including the audience. They are using blockchain-based tokens to reward the audience.
1. What inspired Cineflicks to pioneer the “watch-to-earn” model, and how do you envision it disrupting the traditional OTT subscription-based services?
The OTT industry is huge, with an estimated market size of $198 billion in 2024, projected to grow to around $350 billion by 2028. The industry has evolved so much in recent years, with some big players leading the charge that are huge inspiration for us. One thing that has not evolved so much is the financial model the market is built on, with the pay-to-watch subscription model being commonplace across the market.
The consumer, in return for a portion of their hard-earned cash, of course receives access to selections of great content across their choice of provider, but beyond that, what else do they really receive? There is, beneath the subscription surface, huge amounts of capital in play within the OTT market, and without the end user, without the audience, none of this would be possible.
That is why, at Cineflicks, we believe there is a much fairer model, providing financial benefits to all players, including the audience. While we do offer paid services and premium features, the basis of our model flips the current setup from pay-to-watch to watch-and-earn, offering tremendous, as-yet-unseen value to the global streaming audience.
2. Can you elaborate on how CNF Tokens work and their potential value for users beyond the platform?
The CNF token serves a simple purpose but provides huge value to both our ecosystem and its holders, due to the fact it is a source of reward for users with a number of in-built value drivers.
Our token, CNF, is, first and foremost, a reward token for our loyal streamers, providing rewards of real value for their time spent enjoying Cineflicks content. We knew it had to be much more than a source of reward, though, and its real power lies in the value drivers built in through various financial streams within the ecosystem, with value carefully woven in to the CNF token across our entire ecosystem.
From in-ecosystem user purchases, to ad-revenue sharing, to production house and studio listing fees, there is a place for CNF built into our economy at every turn, creating not only huge value but also considerable buying pressure, strengthening its market positioning. In addition, while rewards will be distributed to our users almost constantly, there will be a variety of holding mechanisms in place, including in-app purchases, CNF staking opportunities, as well as a well-thought-out rewards vesting system that simultaneously negates token sales while incentivising further reward accumulation. We believe we’ve left no stone unturned when it comes to both strengthening our economy and providing value to our community!
3. How will Cineflicks’ community-based approach blend entertainment and finance, and what benefits will this bring to users?
Well I think the two previous answers can combine to cover this, but let’s make it nice and clear for your audience!
The reason we’ve been able to build this model, and why we believe it will be a game-changer for the OTT market, is thanks to the likes of YouTube and similar platforms that incorporate advertising space into their platforms. These ads come at a premium, creating a further, incredibly valuable revenue stream for us, and it is through this that we are able to give back to the community in the form of CNF token rewards. This is the key link for us between entertainment and finance.
Cineflicks is, unquestionably, an OTT streaming platform, building on the success of names we are all familiar with such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and more, providing huge inspiration. Our differentiator that enables us to flip the financial side of the current model, is bringing the aforementioned part of the YouTube model into play, creating a financially inclusive model for every party involved, including, for the first time, the audience.
4. How will the blockchain-based model ensure secure and transparent transactions, and what advantages does this bring to users?
Great question for our less crypto-savvy audience. A blockchain-based model brings a new level of trust and security to transactions by storing them on a transparent, tamper-resistant public ledger. Imagine a digital vault where every transaction is visible to all and nearly impossible to alter—it’s like having a built-in fraud detector! With the added strength of cryptography and decentralisation, users’ data and assets are protected against unauthorised access, without a single point of failure to worry about.
For users, this setup means smoother, faster, and more affordable transactions without the middlemen. They can relax knowing their assets are not only secure but also fully under their control. 5. What are Cineflicks’ plans for future growth and expansion, and how will the presale of CNF Tokens contribute to this vision?
In terms of growth and expansion, the sky’s the limit really! However, let’s be a little more specific. So we have the pre-sale coming up soon, along with the MVP of our app, which is being tested and tweaked as we speak, and things are looking good so far.
Looking a little further ahead, we’ll be collaborating with some big names across many industries to help expand our community and grow our user base, as well as teaming up with studios, production houses and content creators to really supercharge our content offerings. An incredibly exciting part of our roadmap in the future is focussed on investing in exclusive, original content to really cement our place in the industry. To answer the part about the presale, it’s going to play a huge role in the Cineflicks journey, providing us with not only a springboard from which to elevate our project and products to new heights in development terms, but also expand our reach, capture huge audiences, and create a powerful community of true Cineflicks believers and investors.
6. How will Cineflicks’ content offerings differ from existing OTT platforms?
Content offerings through the Cineflicks platform will grow and expand over time, with plans in place to really supercharge our library right from the word go. We’ll be launching with hundreds of titles, with a firm target to be in the thousands very quickly, and continue on an upward curve from there. As our library, community and viewership grows, we firmly predict content providers will begin to come to us due to our rapidly growing viewing statistics! Additionally, Cineflicks is set to bring an expansive selection of streaming content tailored toward the Indian streaming market, celebrating the magic of Bollywood and beyond, offering a diverse range of movies and shows for Indian audiences. From timeless Bollywood classics to the latest blockbuster hits, Cineflicks will have it all, capturing the essence of India’s rich storytelling tradition. Featuring beloved stars, iconic directors, and compelling stories, Cineflicks will be a haven for movies and shows across India.
The key part that will change is how streamers engage with the content compared to other streaming services. While things like ads may put some people off and even cause them to switch off in previous instances, the value provided by the Cineflicks watch and earn mechanisms will retain these viewers due to the extra incentives we provide. This should see an uptick in not only viewer retention, but also viewing times, and in turn, revenue for Cineflicks, our partners and our loyal community of streamers.
7. What measures will be taken to prevent token manipulation or exploitation?
There are a number of measures in place here, one previously mentioned being the rewards vesting system that will ease the selling pressure of the token thanks to the rewards distribution systems we are putting in place.
A second, and very important point to mention is the fact we will be working with best in class market makers to ensure stable price management. This is something that a good project and good team with the right strategy would aim to do anyway, but given the recent bad press over some quite notable players in the space, is now more crucial than ever. It is paramount that we work with reputable and trustworthy partners, not just for us, but for our community of both users and investors.
8. How will Cineflicks address potential regulatory challenges in the Cryptocurrency space?
The regulatory landscape is constantly evolving, and Cineflicks will continue to evolve with it. We will ensure to not only align with and adhere to global regulation, but also future proof ourselves by keeping our finger constantly on the regulatory pulse.
It must be noted that the primary concern and reason for regulation is the protection of retail investors and their funds. Our model predicated on providing rewards through our revenue, we will continue to take regulations as seriously as anyone, ensuring the safety and financial security of all parties involved.
