The popular visually-oriented social media platform, Instagram, which is owned by Meta, has recently launched a new feature that enables users to share their non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as posts.
This is a significant move by Instagram into the NFT space, and the feature is now available globally. Meta has invested billions into developing Web3-focused applications, and this feature is a result of that effort.
If you are an NFT creator who wants to showcase your NFT collectibles on Instagram, read on for more information.
Which Blockchains and Wallets are Supported?
Before you can launch your NFTs on Instagram, it’s essential to know that the platform currently supports the following blockchains:
Ethereum
Polygon
Flow
Solana
It’s worth noting that users can buy, sell, and launch NFTs supported by the Polygon network directly on Instagram, while NFTs from other blockchains can only be shared as posts.
How to Connect Your Wallet to Instagram
The following crypto wallet applications can be connected to the platform:
MetaMask
Coinbase Wallet
Rainbow
Trust Wallet
Dapper Wallet
Phantom Wallet
Once you have ensured that your Web3 profile includes one of the above combinations, you can begin launching your NFTs on the platform.
Posting Your NFT as a Digital Collectible
To get started, connect your wallet by visiting the “Digital Collectibles” option in the menu. A notification will explain the process and guide you through it. If you have multiple wallets, you can easily add them by selecting the “Add Wallet” option. Since wallet connection is a one-time process, you won’t need to worry about losing your login information.
Verifying Ownership of Your NFT
After connecting your wallet, you can view all of your NFTs. To share an NFT as a post, tap the “plus” icon on the top right corner, as you would when posting any other content on Instagram, and click “Post.” An exclusive verified tick sign will appear on your library, and you can select an NFT to post. You can also add descriptions to be shown in the feed before launching the post.
Maximizing Your NFT Exposure on Instagram
When you share your NFT as a post, the tag “Digital Collectible” will appear at the bottom of the image, and you will be tagged as the creator or owner of the collectible. Instagram verifies the ownership of posted collectibles by checking publicly verifiable blockchain data available on the networks.
The Future of Web3 on Instagram
Your NFT collectibles can be found on other users’ feeds and the Explore page’s grid, and they can interact with them by liking, commenting, and sharing them in their stories, creating traction around your Instagram handle.
