E-commerce giant Amazon and a leader in cloud services with its Amazon Web Services (AWS), is making inroads with artificial intelligence (AI) following the interest of ChatGPT outreaching into the metaverse by filing applications for related trademarks.
The e-commerce giant’s filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) from February 2 were revealed in a tweet published by non-fungible token (NFT) and metaverse-licensed trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis on February 27.
As per the tweet, the trademark filings cover robots featuring AI, robots for surveillance and security, and retail stores for robotic machines featuring AI.
Traders are also employing machine learning algorithms to anticipate Amazon’s pricing by the end of 2023 and even as far as 2030, thanks to the rising popularity of utilizing AI.
Meanwhile, major companies across other industries are jumping on the crypto trademarking bandwagon themselves, including payment giant Visa, multinational automotive corporation Mercedes-Benz, American banking giant JPMorgan, and global Whisky brand Jack Daniels.
According to Kondoudis, the number of trademark applications for the metaverse in 2022 amounted to 5,850, which is an increase of 200% compared to 2021.
This is despite the fact that the rate of new trademark applications for NFTs and related goods and services has continued to slow since March.
