Worldcoin, the iris-scanning biometric digital identity project, has announced a strategic partnership with Alchemy, a leading Web3 development platform, to build out the infrastructure for its World Chain ecosystem. The collaboration revealed on June 26, 2024, aims to provide World Chain developers with immediate access to Alchemy’s comprehensive Web3 developer platform.
Here’s what we know:
The partnership will equip developers with essential tools, including core and data APIs, indexing solutions, and account abstraction infrastructure to enhance the safety and security of self-custodial wallets. Alchemy will also integrate Worldcoin’s World ID into its toolset, potentially granting millions of developers worldwide access to this cutting-edge digital ID technology.
World Chain, introduced in April 2024, is positioned as a blockchain optimized for real human users. It will operate alongside Optimism, Coinbase, and the broader Ethereum ecosystem as part of the Superchain. The platform uniquely prioritizes verified World ID holders, offering them priority blockspace and free gas allowances for casual transactions, effectively deterring bots and providing developers with enhanced access to genuine users.
Steven Smith, head of protocol at Tools for Humanity, emphasized World Chain’s ambition to become the first blockchain designed for humans and the largest onramp for human users to enter the blockchain space. Currently, there are over 5.8 million orb-verified World ID holders and more than 10 million World App downloads worldwide.
The World Chain developer preview is expected to launch soon, allowing developers to begin building on the blockchain in preparation for its full launch later this year. This collaboration marks a major step forward in Worldcoin’s mission to create a globally inclusive identity and financial network, potentially revolutionizing the landscape of decentralized digital identity.
