For a cryptocurrency festival in Hong Kong, BlockShow and BlockDown team together

BlockShow, a significant international conference focused on the blockchain and cryptocurrency space, is returning after a four-year gap. Together with BlockDown Festival, which is supported by PR firm EAK Digital, the two events will bring a festival-style Web3 event to Hong Kong in 2024.

BlockShow was founded in 2016 and is supported by the blockchain trade journal Cointelegraph. BlockShow will collaborate closely with EAK to create the Asia edition, BlockShow X BlockDown, which will be held at the government-backed Cyberport venue in Hong Kong. The major venue for BlockShow X BlockDown Asia will be Cyberport, the Silicon Valley of Hong Kong, which is well-known for hosting notable Web3 companies like Animoca Brands.

The primary conference is scheduled for May 8–9, 2024, with many more days dedicated to side events. It was only logical to choose Hong Kong because, in recent years, the area has become a global powerhouse for technology and Web 3. With access to several levels, exhibition spaces, galleries, meeting areas, cafes, restaurants, workshop rooms, outdoor areas, and more, the Cyberport will be converted into Web3 city.

With several conference stages, an art gallery, a gaming area, a music stage, a special area for entrepreneurs and venture capitalists, and much more, the BlockShow X BlockDown festival seeks to transform Hong Kong into a Web3 city for five to seven days. The festival’s main subjects will include SocialFi, GameFi, Web3, art, music, culture, decentralized finance (DeFi), and real-world asset analysis.

The remaining days of the BlockShow X BlockDown Asia event will be devoted to subjects including gaming, DeFi niches, Bitcoin Ordinals, and more. In addition, the organizers have scheduled networking events focused on sports, including futsal, tennis, basketball, and other activities, and ice-breaking activities at some of the greatest restaurants in Hong Kong.

Depending on the type of ticket, early bird tickets for the BlockShow X BlockDown event range from $290 to $1,190, with a goal of hosting 5,000 attendees. With the upcoming price rise, tickets will cost between $490 and $1,390.

Addy Crezee, the founder of BlockShow, believes that the Web3 sector will explode in 2024, and that Asia will lead the charge because of the region’s increasing number of builders and cryptocurrency users.

A real celebration of Web3

After debuting in April 2020, BlockDown set the way in virtual Web3 conferences and was essential in connecting the cryptocurrency community during the pandemic. The top names in the business, such as former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Shapeshift Erik Voorhees, co-founder of Chainlink Labs Sergey Nazarov, founder of Cardano Charles Hoskinson, and even famous singer and composer Akon, were drawn to BlockDown.

Six online events were arranged by BlockDown during the pandemic, including special editions like the Spanish-speaking BlockDown Latam and BlockDown DeData, which was centered around decentralized data and identity and featured a fireside chat between American whistleblower Edward Snowden and Gavin Wood, founder and CEO of Parity Technologies.

In Sibinik, Croatia in 2022, the first BlockDown Web3 event showcased the convergence of Web3 technology and cultural aspects. In summer 2023, the festival made a comeback with BlockDown Portugal, its second in-person event. It featured a metaverse fashion show, a Web3 music stage, and participation from prominent worldwide businesses including the French soccer team Paris Saint-Germain and the Formula One racing team McLaren.
