The custodial company Metaco, which is owned by Ripple, is utilizing IBM’s latest Offline Signing Orchestrator technology.
With the release of IBM’s cryptographic signing technology, managing digital assets in cold storage can now be done with less risk compared to manual processes and asset segregation from the internet.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the tech giant commonly referred to as the Big Blue, announced that IBM Hyper Protect Offline Signing Orchestrator (OSO) serves to safeguard high-value transactions. It accomplishes this by providing extra security measures such as disconnected network operations, time-based security, and electronic transaction approval from multiple stakeholders.
IBM has been subtly integrating its major management expertise particularly its suite of technologies for confidential computing with digital assets and cryptocurrencies in recent years.

Human interactions are what ultimately determine the limits of cold storage, according to IBM. These interactions can take the form of forced attacks, insider threats to get a transaction signed, or other operational issues involving data center administrators and basic “pen and paper” methods.
The Ripple-owned custody company Metaco, a longtime partner of IBM in the cryptocurrency field, uses the new OSO technology.
According to Adrien Treccani, the CEO of Metaco, IBM’s secret computing group has been a reliable partner for crypto firms throughout the years. Metaco’s offers institutional cold storage solutions with the innovative air-gapped cold storage offered by OSO. This becomes especially important because cold storage restrictions are being imposed more and more by regulators in areas like Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan。
